Invisalign Philadelphia
If you looked at the people wearing metal and wire braces these days, you could be forgiven thinking that only children can wear braces. You rarely, if ever, see an adult with that kind of hardware on their teeth.
But that's not because adults can't get braces! Actually, it's because many of the adults who make the leap to get their teeth straightened use Invisalign clear plastic braces.
Most people are aware of metal braces because they saw them on many of their classmates growing up. But had those classmates used Invisalign braces, you would not have been able to tell they were wearing them. Invisalign is not recommended for children, but older teens can use them. These plastic braces fit perfectly over your own teeth. They are completely unobtrusive and don't contain any wires or hardware that could cut your mouth. But, they still maintain the firm, even pressure that aligns your teeth in as little as six months.
Before treatment, we'll use computer imaging of your existing teeth to plan exactly how your teeth will shift and what your smile will look like when we're done. This computer imaging also helps with the planning process.
You will receive multiple versions of the Invisalign braces throughout the course of your treatment. Because they fit directly over your teeth like Iron Man's suit, they are precisely fitted with only a little variation - and that variation exists to guide the teeth gently towards their final position.
The number of custom trays you'll receive depends upon the severity of your alignment issues. A less dramatic change means that fewer braces will be required.
Many people have questions about how they will eat with the Invisalign braces. The answer is that they are not glued or wired into your mouth, so you simply remove the clear aligners before eating, then, put them back in when you are done. To work, the braces need to maintain pressure 23 hours a day, ideally, so treatment compliance is crucial to seeing results.
Unfortunately, it's impossible to say with any certainty. We can tell you that the cost is comparable to metal braces, in spite of the futuristic technology. But, like with metal braces, too much depends on the severity of the alignment problems and the length of your treatment.
But there are often financing options available for Invisalign, and many of our patients tell us it was worth every penny!
